      EXCLUSION POLICY

You will be excluded from the class:
      • If you are not present for the 2nd meeting of class.
      • If you are absent 2 times.
      • Not keeping up with the class homework.
(Auditing or taking this class for credit/no credit is no excuse not to work.)
      • If your overall Grade Point Percent (GPP) for the class is below 60%.
      • If you drop this class but still continue to attend class.

      DROPPING

If you need to drop this class, please advise the instructor in addition to filing a drop card with the administration. If you stop coming to class without filing a drop card or notifying your instructor, you will get an F at the end of the semester. You can send me e-mail if you need to drop the class. Your cooperation will be greatly appreciated.

      AUDITING

If you have previously taken a Internet class at LACC or another school and received a "C" or better grade, you will not be able to take this class for credit; however, you will be able to audit this class--ask the instructor for an Audit Add Slip.

      ABSENCES, TARDINESS, & LEAVING EARLY

A poor attendance record can have an affect upon your final grade in several ways: reduces your limited lab time, limits your availability to key information and if your final grade is on the borderline, students who have shown poor attendance will not be given the benefit of a doubt. Note, three tardies equal one absence.

      TESTING POLICY

There will be at least 3 quizzes, 4 major tests, plus a final for the course. No low test scores will be thrown out. There will be plenty of bonus projects if you need to redeem yourself due to absences or low test scores.

      COPYING ASSIGNMENTS

I like original answers to questions. Please do not use the wording from the book especially from the back of the book when answering questions. I will only give partial credit for answers that closely follow the wording in the book.

      CHEATING IN CLASS

If you are caught cheating on a test, there will be a 30 point penalty; if you make your homework available to other students to copy, no points to either student will be given for that exercise.

      GRADING POLICY

In a semester, students can accumulate approximately 600 points from quizzes, tests, homework exercises and bonus questions. 90% of the points earned by a student is an A grade, 80% is a B, 70% is a C, 60% is a D, and 50% is an F.

      ASSIGNMENTS

I will deduct one point from your total for every piece of unnecessary e-mail. If you send me the same message twice, (spamming), I will deduct 2 points. If you send me an assignment that I did not request, I will deduct a point for each message sent.

      FINAL

I do not give incompletes if the student is not able to finish the course or take the final exam regardless of the circumstances; however, I will make every effort to accommodate any student who cannot take the final when it is scheduled if notified days in advance of an illness or other serious problems. A rescheduled final must be taken within the scheduled exam week. Students who do not take the final will receive an F. Include a stamped self-addressed postcard if you would like to know your course grade. I usually mail grades out approximately 2 weeks after taking the final.

      HOMEWORK POLICY

Do not use any binders or fancy sheet holders when you turn in homework as they are bulky and get in the way when grading. Since I make worksheets available for the unit exercises, please do not give me additional sheets of paper typed or handwritten. If you should run out of room, please use the back of the worksheet. Long complex answers are not necessary. Short concise answers using keywords are always better than long convoluted sentences.

Homework turned in late due to illness or other serious problems will receive half credit. Exceptions to H.W. policy: If you have a good attendance record and are keeping up with the class, H.W. can be turned in late for full credit if the teacher is notified in advance of the circumstance.

      COMPLAINTS

If you have a complaint or feel your student rights have been violated, please complain to my supervisor, Charlene Morimoto.
