Los Angeles is full of communities, groups, and organizations. There are hobbyist clubs, based on common interests; cultural groups sharing cultural roots; working crews, sharing employment; advocacy groups, working together for specific goals; and many other affiliations bringing people together.
For this final assignment, you must chose a group of people sharing a common bond, such as work or interests, and you must make 5 portraits within this community.
You may shoot any format of film, and may chose to work in black & white or color. You must make your final prints here on campus, and you cannot use digital photography.
Your final selection of prints, when viewed together, should clearly tell the viewer what it is that these people have in common. Your pictures should primarily feature individuals, but you may also choose to make some photographs of more than one person at a time. You may shoot either on location or in the studio, using techniques learned in this class. You may extend your idea of portraiture in creative ways. You may wish to include statements from your subjects in this project.
On April 25, you must turn in a short proposal outlining your idea for this project.
